TEM Wavelength Calculator

The TEM wavelength calculator allows you to determine the wavelength of a signal based on its frequency and the relative permittivity of the medium.
This tool is useful for engineers and technicians working on the design of RF circuits, antennas and transmission systems.

Formula used

λ = 300 / (F × √εR)

Or :
λ = wavelength (in meters)
F = signal frequency (GHz, MHz, kHz)
εR = relative permittivity of the medium

Explanation

The wavelength λ is inversely proportional to the frequency F of the signal and also depends on the relative permittivity εR of the medium.
The higher the frequency, the shorter the wavelength. Higher relative permittivity also reduces the wavelength.

Calculation example

For a signal with F = 2 GHz and εR = 4 :
λ = 300 / (2 × √4) = 300 / (2 × 2) = 75 meters

Benefits and Use

  • Allows you to quickly calculate wavelength for different materials and frequencies.
  • Useful for sizing transmission lines and antennas.
  • Helps optimize RF circuits and communications systems.
